Good Kenyan girls become good Kenyan wives they say; Kena and Ziki dream of something more. Despite the political rivalry that opposes their fathers during an election campaign, the girls remain close friends, supporting each other to pursue their dreams in a conservative society.

Wanuri Kahiu produced For Our Land in 2009 for MNET; in 2010 her short film Pumzi won the Cannes Independent Film Festival prize for best short film, silver medal at the JCC and the 2010 Venice Citta di Venezia award. Her second feature film Rafiki premiered at Cannes 2018 and was nominated for the Queer Palm.
