Synopsis

The story of this film unfolds during the course of a single day; a day like any other in Palestine. Abu Leila is a judge, but because of lack of jobs in Palestine, he currently works as a taxi driver to make a living. On his daughter Leila’s seventh birthday, his wife insists that he come home early and bring a gift and a cake. Abu Leila has only one objective: to do the best he can at work and return home safe and sound to celebrate his daughter’s birthday… but the reality of life in Palestine makes things different.


Le réalisateur

Born in 1962 in the Gaza Strip, selftaught filmmaker Rachid Masharawi worked on 20 films before directing his own. He is the founder of the Cinema Production Center in Ramallah. His credits include “Ticket to Jerusalem” (2002), “Arafat mon frère” (2005) and “Attente” (2005).
