La fille du 8 janvier ( TUNISIA - Documentary )
Synopsis
08/01/2011 Kaouthar Ayari, a young left-wing activist, hanging on the wrought iron of the General Union of Tunisian Workers’ headquarters, was scorning Ben Ali’s system, haranguing the police and calling for the Revolution. Her video set fire to the social networks and global media. The documentary portrays her, beyond the icon, her activism and her career.
Statement of intent
Since 14/02/2011, political figures of all sides invade the media landscape. The main militants active in the revolutionary uprising seemed put aside, distorting the representation of the founding myth of our revolution. By re-watching Kaouthar’s video, I decided to film her to understand the origins of her involvement, the secret behind her courage and to compose the portrait of a genuine revolutionary.
