Synopsis

Through stop-motion animation, drawings and interviews, directors Amer Shomali and Paul Cowan recreate an astonishing true story: the Israeli army’s pursuit of eighteen cows, whose independent milk production on a Palestinian collective farm was declared “a threat to the national security of the state of Israel.”

Director's biography


Amer Shomali was born in Kuwait and is currently based in Ramallah. A multidisciplinary artist, animator, and activist, he made his film debut with the animated short Dying of the Light , The Wanted 18 is his first feature. Paul Cowan was born in Montreal. He has directed several feature documentaries for television and film, including The Kid Who Couldn't Miss, Justice Denied and Westray which won the Genie Award for Best Documentary. The Wanted 18 is his latest film.
