Malek Bensmaïl is born in Algeria, in 1966. He shot films in super 8 technique and then studied cinema in Paris and St-Petersbourg. He devoted himself to documentary films. All his films are related to the contemporary history of his country. His cinematographic style depicts the complex and sensitive aspects of humanity.
