Jeroen van Velzen (1979, Heerlen) grew up abroad and lived in Kenya, India and South Africa. In 2009 he graduated from the Netherlands Film and Television Academy in Study Documentary. Wavumba, his feature debut, won the 2012 Tribeca Documentary Award. Tanzania Transit won Best Cinematography in a Documentary Feature at the Tribeca Film Festival, 2018.
