Marcelo Martinessi (Asuncion, 1973) is a Paraguayan screenwriter and director. He directed the short films Karai Norte (Berlinale Shorts, 2009), Calle Altima (Berlinale Generation, 2011), Le Baldio (Cinémathèque Française, 2014) and La Voz Perdita (Venice, 2016). His first feature film, Las Herederas, won Silver Bear at the 2018 Berlin Festival.
