Synopsis

Detective Feluda, with his young assistant Topshe and his crime writer friend Jatayu, has to find a valuable little statue of the god Ganesh, that has disappeared in Benares. His suspicions are soon aroused by a locally known dangerous gangster. The feast of Durga looms and the miracleworking ‘Man-Fish’ is drawing crowds.

Satyajit Ray was born in 1921 in Calcutta and attended Visva-Bharati University. In 1942 and 44 he founded film clubs in Bombay and Calcutta. He made 37 short, feature and documentary films. Pather Panchali (La Complainte du sentier) won the 1956 Cannes Festival prize for human document. He died in 1992.
